GREENSHIELDS
This dimly lit and confined country house underwent a dramatic overhaul. All three levels were gutted, an extension was added benefitting the ground and top floor and an exterior living space was thought-out. The lake and beauty of the surrounding environment present a magnificent spectacle that needed to be showcased inside. Opening the main floor allowed for a bright and fluid living space, simply punctuated by the original fireplace at the center of the home. Treated as a monolith, the fireplace column is present on all three levels. The top floor presented many challenges when reorganizing the floorplan. Sloped ceilings and dormer windows limited the use of most peripheral walls for our layout and circulation.

Cette maison de campagne sombre et aux pièces exiguës a subi une transformation majeure sur son ensemble; trois étages refaits de la tête aux pieds, un agrandissement avec en prime un espace de vie extérieur. La beauté des lieux se devait d’être mise en spectacle. Le rez-de-chaussée offre un espace de vie fluide entre les pièces et un maximum de lumière. La seule division est un foyer au centre de la maison, traité tel un monolithe qui se fait présent sur tous les paliers. L’étage a présenté un défi de taille dans la réorganisation des pièces. Nous avons dû conjuguer avec l’architecture des plafonds en pentes et lucarnes qui limitaient l’utilisation des murs en périphérie pour l’aménagement et la circulation.
